Regional Technical Advisor, Kenya
Wambui Waithaka is a pharmacist and public health specialist with extensive experience in supply chain management, health systems strengthening, and project management. She has worked in the Kenyan health sector, both in the public sector and in health development programs. Before joining JSI, she worked at Management Sciences for Health as the technical lead for reproductive health commodity security and systems strengthening, supporting the Reproductive and Maternal Health Services Unit and National AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections Control Program through capacity building at the national and county levels. While in this position, she redesigned the national system for family planning commodity reporting and access to information through the development of a family planning logistics management information system dashboard at the national level and use of the district health information system (DHIS2) at the peripheral level. And before that, she worked at Catholic Relief Services in Kenya as a regional health supply chain manager supporting nine countries for a global HIV project, and offering short term supply chain consultancies on proposal writing, trainings, and compliance reviews. She holds a Master’s degree in Public Health (Health Services Management) from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical medicine as well as certification in Humanitarian Medical Logistics from the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport through Fritz Institute, UK. Wambui is passionate about improving national health systems (especially maternal and child health) and enabling access to quality services by underprivileged communities.
